Felicia's Book Club
In a media-saturated world of movies, videos, music, comedies, talk shows, reality shows, soap operas, in a world of cell phones, i-pods, MP3 players, play station 2 &3, game boy Advance or Color and the like, people are overwhelmed by the seductive choices. It is therefore a small wonder that very few people these days are interested in reading for pleasure. Felicia’s Book Club is for those who love reading and those who are willing and interested in discovering the joys of reading. The club is also for people who need to get back to the pleasure of reading. The goal is to encourage these people and others to recapture the old excitement and pleasure derived from reading interesting as well as information-rich books. The joys and benefits of reading are many. We learn everyday. Reading help us learn new things about different subjects or issues. Reading gives us joy and pleasure. Reading takes us on a journey of unknown but welcome end. Reading transports us to a world that we will never have known or imagined. The excitement and suspense that go with reading are rewarding. Indeed, Felicia’s book club aims at making the best of members’ group reading experience. HOW THE CLUB OPERATES Felicia’s Book Club offers members the opportunity to participate in spirited discussions and sharing about specific works. For now, due to the demands of time and busy schedules, members meet online regularly every month to share different views and perspectives on selected books. Members’ comments will be posted on the site for other members to read and comment on. Each month, a list of books will be recommended. These books may include but not limited to fictions, non-fictions, romances, detective thrillers, current affairs, travel and self-help books. Members are free to suggest genres to be selected if available. When a list of books is recommended, members select the book that best appeals to them. The book that has the highest selection vote will be chosen for the month.
